The Bordeaux Boxers of the French professional league has announced the signing (link in French) of J.P. Cote. Cote was a member of the Calder Cup winning 2011-12 Norfolk Admirals team as well as the Calder Cup finalist 2012-13 Syracuse Crunch team. He also played in 19 games in the NHL for the Tampa Bay Lightning with 4 points during the 2013-14 season during a time when the Lightning were struggling with injuries on the blue line.

Prior to the 2011-12 season, Cote had spent two seasons in the DEL of Germany and had previously been with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins for a season after five years in the Montreal Canadiens organization. After his contract was up after the 2014-15 season with the Syracuse Crunch, Cote returned to Europe to play for the Iserlohn Roosers of the DEL. Now he’ll have an opportunity to play in the French league. A native of Quebec, Cote should fit in well with his new teammates and surroundings.

Also, don’t forget this interview where J.P. Cote hugs Paul Kennedy!

Best of luck J.P. in your next adventure.
