The pre-tournament games continued on Friday with a match between Team USA and Team Canada with Bolts Ben Bishop and Steven Stamkos both participating.
Team USA 4 verses Team Canada 2
Ben Bishop – 1 GA, 10 SA, .900 SV%, 3.00 GAA, 20:00 TOI
Steven Stamkos – 0-0-0, -1, 4 SOG, 3 Hits, 15:33 TOI
Ben Bishop didn’t enter the game until the third period and played 20 minutes. He allowed one goal to Drew Doughty on 10 shots faced. Bishop will get the start on Saturday in the re-match against Team Canada.
Steven Stamkos was unable to get much offense going, but did manage 4 shots on goal. Stamkos was 6th among Canada’s forwards in TOI, but had the most power play time of any member of Canada with 3:04.
It was a decent start for both teams with USA showing they can keep up with the skill of Canada. A lot of people have written them off because of the seemingly questionable roster decisions the management and coaching staff have made. However, they could prove to be more of a challenger than many gave them credit for being.
