The pre-tournament games are almost over. Tonight featured Team Finland versus Team USA. The last of the pre-tournament games will be played Wednesday and the real games will start on Saturday.

Team Finland 2 versus Team USA 3

Valtteri Filppula – 0-0-0, -1, 4 SOG, 1 Hit, 47% Faceoffs, 19:30 TOI
Ben Bishop – DNP

Team USA Head Coach John Tortorella didn’t come outright and say Jonathan Quick was the number one goalie, but he might as well have as Quick got the start in the third and final warm-up game. He also ended up playing the entirety of the game with Ben Bishop dressed as the back-up. Bishop played better in his 40 minutes than Corey Schneider, so it appears that he is the number two goalie for Team USA, but was never really given much of a chance to earn the number one job with it obvious that Tortorella went in thinker higher of Quick and Schneider than Bishop. Quick looked good for most of the game, but did give up two goals late to make the game more interesting that it seemed it would be after the first two periods.

Valtteri was active for the Finns in the game and ended up getting 4 shots on goal including two that produced some decent rebound chances, but none went in. Filppula had the 4th most TOI for Finland, including 5:10 on the power play and 1:41 on the penalty kill. Team USA got into a lot of penalty trouble again giving Finland 5 chances on the power play.
